Farewell from Miss San Diego Cities Teen USA 2015

This year has truly been one of the best years in my life, because I have grown towards being the woman I’ve always wanted to be. And what started me off on my path was winning this pageant and becoming Miss San Diego Cities Teen. When I competed last year, I had no idea that I would be crowned and get to serve with my past sister queen, Dani Walker. It was a great surprise that set off my reign to be my best year in pageants so far.  At the start of the year, I was still very shy and I had a lot of trouble coming out of my shell. As a result of the numerous events we got to be apart of, I slowly became more friendly and comfortable every time. It was definitely hard, but I had the best support group ever at my side- my family, my sister queens, and my directors Robin and Sierra.

Speaking of Sierra, I couldn’t have possibly done what I have done this year without her guidance and help. She gave me lots of advice, always made sure that I was comfortable, and she even let me borrow a swimsuit from her pageant days when I competed at Miss California Teen USA! I love her to the moon and back, and I’m so glad that I was lucky enough to have her as my director.

To Dani Walker – you are such a blessing and I’m so glad to have gotten to know you even better over this past year. You are not only extremely intelligent and beautiful, but you are one of the most kind, charming, and genuine people I know. You have such talent in everything you do, as well as this amazing aura that surrounds you and I have to admit, your happiness is definitely contagious. Your prowess as a young businesswoman has astounded me and I look up to you so much for it. If I can grow to be even a fraction of the person you are, I will be thrilled. I love you to bits, and nothing will change that. I’m excited to see what you will do this next year, and you know I’ll be cheering for you every step of the way!

And last, but not least, to my family. I can’t express in words how much you mean to me. Not only have you guided me to be the person I want to be, but you all are always there to help me get back up when I feel like I’m down. Capri, you are a great sister and you somehow always manage to get me to laugh even when I’m upset. Grandma, you are my sunshine, and don’t you ever forget that! You are my best friend and I’m so happy that I have someone to watch all of my mystery and cop shows with! Dad, thanks for getting me to talk to more people, even when I was a little too afraid to start talking first. You always seem to know what the best thing to do is, and I am so glad that I got to have someone as great as you as my dad. And Mom, I couldn’t possibly write down everything I appreciate about you. You are the best person I’ve ever known and possibly ever will. You are determined, hardworking, supportive, kind, intelligent, and ridiculously talented. While your writing skills may not have passed onto me, your big heart truly did. I love you so much, and I can’t imagine what I would do without you. You are my rock, and you always know how to make me feel better, even when I don’t want to. Thank you for pushing me to do and be my best.

This year has been completely unexpected for me, from its beginning to the final moments of me holding this title. But I wouldn’t change it for the world. Competing at Miss California Teen was amazing, and all of the events I attended as Miss San Diego Cities were some of my fondest memories. To my successor, you are being put into great hands, and don’t forget that. Sierra will be there for you, and so will your sister queens. Be sure to have fun, and take tons of pictures! Go outside of your comfort zone, and don’t be afraid to do something you’ve never done before. This will be a year you’ll never forget. Just remember to be confident in everything that you do.
