There are many ways I like to prepare to compete in a pageant, especially physically. Being “in shape” for a pageant does not mean you have to lose a bunch of weight or barely eat. It just means that you take care of yourself and live a happy and healthy lifestyle. Being a Nutrition major at SDSU, I have learned many healthy recipes that taste amazing and are also good for you! Here are a couple of my favorite quick & healthy snacks I like to make (they’re even great for pageant day):
1. The banana sandwich: Slice up some bananas and spread a little bit of peanut butter between 2 slices, like a mini sandwich. Then put them in the freezer so they hold together and last longer. Sometimes I will even dip half of the banana sandwich in melted chocolate, yum!
2. One of my go-to snacks are healthy oatmeal cookies: Just mix together 2 ripe mashed bananas, half a cup of dry oats, one-quarter cup applesauce and a handful (or more) of dark chocolate chips. Spoon mixture onto a baking sheet and cook at 350 degrees for about 10 minutes. When they are done they will be golden, delicious and naturally sweet! They are such a yummy treat that you won’t even miss regular chocolate chip cookies!
I hope you like these recipes and wish you good luck in your next pageant!
