To think it would all begin in 2013 with my participation in the pageant’s Jr. Miss and Princess Program. I was so impressed by Miss Santee 2013, Emily Zobel, and Miss Teen Santee 2013, Marissa Lawrence. Both made me feel so welcome and taught me so much about serving the community that I decided to enter the pageant when I turned 13 years old. I entered the pageant with no other expectation than to meet other young women and have fun. I had so much fun preparing for and participating in the pageant only one short year ago! Imagine my surprise that night as Miss Teen Santee 2014 was announced….Brianna Stafford! The proof is in the pictures as my mentors from 2013 led me forward on the stage, stunned and speechless, and gifted me with crown, sash and bouquet. I could not believe that I had been chosen to represent my city as Miss Teen Santee 2014! This past year has really gone by in the blink of an eye. From the whirlwind of that amazing night until now, I have learned so much. The pageant has taught me life-long skills and opened so many doors for me; the abundance of service opportunities has informed me of all this great community has to offer. Most importantly, I have learned that pageants are not only about the crown and sash or even the title; pageants are about molding young women into strong civic-minded leaders. Thank you to the Santee Chamber for all the help and support over the past year. It was such a pleasure to have the opportunity to get to know each of you, as well as many of Santee’s finest business people. I would also like to thank all of the pageant’s sponsors for their continuing support of this community event. My heartfelt thanks to Pageant Directors – Sierra, Maria and Robin for all of your support. No matter what I required; whether to borrow a dress or just a little help deciding what to wear to an event, I knew that I could always rely on them. Thank you to our Jr. Miss’ and Princess’ for always putting a smile on my face. Planning the 2nd Annual Princess Sleepover was so much fun and I enjoyed watching all of the Jr Miss’ and Princess’ enjoy the sleepover as much as we enjoyed planning it. I hope that the Princess Sleepover remains a tradition carried on through the years! It has been my privilege to witness each of you continue to blossom into beautiful, confident young ladies. To all of my amazing family, Mom, Gito, Arturo, Ryan, Arturo Junior, Dad, Rey, Uncle Donny and Uncle Franny, thank you for your unconditional love and support throughout my entire life but especially throughout this year. You were always here for me, no matter how big or small the request, like a ride to an event or a last minute shopping excursion. I knew that you would always be there to help just as you have always been. I love you all to the moon and back and I cannot thank you enough for everything you have done for me and continue to do each and everyday. And to my Sito, you really are the strongest and most inspirational person I know. You have always supported me in everything I have ever done, and even though you cannot be here with me tonight as I crown the next Miss Teen Santee, I know you are with me in spirit. I will always be so thankful that you were part of this journey with me. Lizzy, you are the most amazing big sister that I could have ever asked for. We have shared infinite laughs and memories. I will always remember the talks that we had in my driveway after events You have become a treasured part of my life, and I look forward to sharing so many more memories together! I love you my Lizzy-Poo! To my La Mesa Sister Queens, Mandy and Kelli, thank you for all the times shared and the memories made. I had so much fun with both of you at the events we participated in together. To the next Miss Teen Santee 2015, I hope you enjoy your year with all your heart. Take time to appreciate each and every memory you make, and cherish each moment as they will go by quicker than you can imagine.
