Farewell from Miss Teen San Diego Cities

I believe the future belongs to those who have the courage to believe in and chase after their dreams.

In my life I’ve learned that dreams are the foundation of a beautiful and fulfilling life. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for the dreams I’ve chased after, despite life’s inevitable obstacles. Fifteen years ago I was just a war refugee from Kosovo–today I live a life I’m proud of and so in love with.

Over this past year I’ve been reminded that any dream, regardless of how crazy it may seem, is achievable through perseverance and having faith in yourself.

I feel so fortunate to have been given the opportunity to serve as Miss Teen San Diego Cities. This truly has been a life changing experience that I will forever cherish. I have so many people who deserve my utmost thanks. As the saying goes… It really does take a village! Thank you first and foremost to my ever-support family. Thank you to my parents who I owe my life to, my grandma Jackie for being my biggest fan and “world’s greatest taxi”, and to my sisters Laureta and Blerta for being my best friends. Thank you to our wonderful directors Sierra, Robin, and Maria. You ladies have gone above and beyond to make this year so unique and unforgettable; I admire each of you so much. And of course, to the beautiful Shannon Monaghan. I was so thrilled to take on this year with you by my side. I always looked so forward to our community events because of the time we shared. Preparing for and taking on the Miss CA USA pageant together created such a bond between us. I look up to you in so many ways– for your intelligence, poise, and your selfless heart. I can’t wait to follow your 11-month journey next year as you take on the World Race and shine your light all over the world. You’ve been the greatest role model I could ever ask for in a sister queen.

Ultimately I trust in God’s plan for me and know I’m in good hands. I can only hope I’ve left a positive impact on the community that I’m so lucky to call home. As Winston Churchill once said, “You make a living by what you get. You make a life by what you give.”

With lots of love,

Leona Koxha
