Farewell from Miss Teen La Mesa 2015

At this time last year I had no idea what my year as Miss Teen La Mesa had in store for me. This experience has brought with it many memories, friendships, and lessons. They say that it goes by in the blink of an eye, and there is no better way to explain it. Although I cannot believe that the year is already up, I am equally surprised by how much I have grown over the past twelve months. Pageants are not all about the crown and sash (although they definitely are not a bad bonus), but they are about creating confident young women who have the power to make an impact on the world around them.

What really made this year special was the people who stood by my side and the people I met along the way. I could not have made it through this year without the support of my parents. Thank you for your endless love and support, especially through this year. I would not be who I am today without your guidance. Luke, thank you for always being by my side and being understanding through it all. Kelli, thank you for the sisterhood we share as Miss Teen La Mesas and as friends. I treasure your advice, support, and friendship.

One of the most amazing parts of this adventure has been the sisterhood. Tiffany, I was so excited to be able to share this journey with you. I have loved the conversations and laughter we have shared. From the many ribbon cuttings, galas, fundraisers, and parades we have attended to the Taylor Swift concert and car rides, I have loved spending it all with you. You have been an amazing role model this year and I look forward to seeing where this life takes you. To my Santee sister queens, thank you for all the amazing memories this year, all the silliness and laughter. I have immensely enjoyed serving the community with you this year. Dani and Elan, it has been a pleasure spending the year with you both and getting to know what amazing women you are. Thank you to all of the incredible people who I met on this great journey for your encouragement and love.

I would also like to express my sincere gratitude to our sponsors for their generosity and for being apart of making this year remarkable. This year would not have been possible without our directors Sierra, Robin, and Maria. Thank you for your devotion to this pageant and your dedication to serving your community. Your guidance means so much to us and everyone involved in this program.

It has been such a pleasure to get to know the people in charge of making this community great. Thank you to Mary England and the La Mesa Chamber for welcoming Tiffany and I graciously. You have been a huge part of making this year so memorable. I would also like to thank God for giving me this opportunity and for his endless blessings.

To Miss Teen La Mesa 2016, make the most of what this year has to offer you. Take all the opportunities that come your way, attend as many of the events as you can, and be someone young girls can look up to. This year will be challenging and busy, but make sure to enjoy every moment of it. Push yourself out of your comfort zone and allow yourself to grow through every experience. Congratulations and good luck in all your endeavors!

Love always,
Kaitilyn Mayhue
