Miss Teen USA 2015 Recap

After watching both the Miss Teen USA preliminary competition and finals competition, I wanted to recap my thoughts on the young women who made the Top 15. My hope is that the feedback will help those of you who may be preparing for your own competition!   Alabama –  I didn’t remember her hair being pulled over to the side during prelims and I have to say that I really didn’t like it during finals. I’m not… Read more »

Miss USA 2015 Predictions

Since our Miss San Diego Cities pageant is a prelim to Miss California USA, we thought it might be helpful and fun to analyze the performances from Wednesday night’s preliminary competition. Here is our Top 10 in no particular order: Alabama – We loved her walk, she looked great in swimsuit and loved her gown. Although it was a little short in the front, we feel the color and shape fit her well. She’s an… Read more »

Farewell from Miss San Diego Cities

When I was crowned Miss San Diego Cities a year ago, I never expected the year to turn out the way it did. I have felt so honored to be a part of an organization within a community that has been represented by so many incredible women before me. This year, I have had a multitude of opportunities to volunteer in my hometown of San Diego. Thanks to our awesome directors, Sierra, Maria, and Robin,… Read more »

Farewell from Miss Teen San Diego Cities

I believe the future belongs to those who have the courage to believe in and chase after their dreams. In my life I’ve learned that dreams are the foundation of a beautiful and fulfilling life. I wouldn’t be where I am today if it weren’t for the dreams I’ve chased after, despite life’s inevitable obstacles. Fifteen years ago I was just a war refugee from Kosovo–today I live a life I’m proud of and so… Read more »

Setting Your Own Trend

The first step to setting a trend is figuring out what style of clothing you like. For example, I like classy and flowy so I might put a bright floral skater skirt with a loose bright tank top, and to top it off add a jean jacket. Voila! I now have my very own trend. I suggest going to the mall and looking at EVERYTHING!!!! You can also look online at pictures of stylish outfits… Read more »

Persistence is Key

“The difference in winning and losing is most often…. not quitting.”- Walt Disney I’ve always lived by the motto “if at first you don’t succeed, try and try again.” When I first competed in the Miss Santee organization I was 15 years old, shy beyond belief, and I had no idea what to expect out of the pageant. I never expected to get bit by the pageant bug, and why would I? My mom was… Read more »

Farewell from Miss Teen La Mesa

Never in a million years could I have guessed what my year as Miss Teen La Mesa had in store for me. I won on my third try and I can honestly say that hard work and determination does pay off. I am beyond grateful for this experience and it is something that I will carry with me throughout the rest of my life. Although I am sad that my reign will end tonight, I… Read more »

Farewell from Miss Teen Santee

To think it would all begin in 2013 with my participation in the pageant’s Jr. Miss and Princess Program. I was so impressed by Miss Santee 2013, Emily Zobel, and Miss Teen Santee 2013, Marissa Lawrence. Both made me feel so welcome and taught me so much about serving the community that I decided to enter the pageant when I turned 13 years old. I entered the pageant with no other expectation than to meet… Read more »

Farewell from Miss La Mesa 2014

My year as Miss La Mesa has truly been one of the best experiences of my life. When I think back on this last year, my head is filled with all of the smiles of the little kids we have interacted with and what a difference we have made helping out in our community. It is so amazing to meet so many wonderful people in our city and to be able to brighten their… Read more »

Farewell from Miss Santee 2014

I cannot believe the time has come for me to say my farewell as Miss Santee 2014. Listening to the former Miss Santee titleholders speak about how fast the time had gone by during their year, I assumed they were in part being cliché. However, I find that I now completely understand the sentiments they expressed. From the moment, “A Moment like This” began to play after my name had been announced I found myself… Read more »
